why does my cell phone battery display show the bars going back up once i hang up?

My phone does this, too. I think it is because that it goes into calling mode, and it automatically thinks it is losing power. But then, when you hang up, and the backlight turns off and it goes back to sleep mode, it gains a little power back and then makes the battery bars go up.
