Will hard wired smoke detector work if security system is disabled?
Jimmy T asked:
The smoke detectors do not have a test button and I disabled the security system (unplugged unit and battery backup) cause I don’t use it and the battery backup was failing, causing the security panels to chirp. Now it dawned on me that the smoke detectors might have been disabled.

Call your alarm company to see if their alarm system has anything to do with the smoke detectors. If so, they can help you out, if not you are good to go! Good luck Manila Mark

No the smoke detectors will not be disabled, however to be 100% sure I’d let an extinguished match or piece of paper smolder under the detector. RJC
